Frequently Asked Questions Mobile

Below are some of my most frequently asked questions! Want to learn more? Check out the about Third Generation Travel page and my about me page! Have questions I haven’t covered? Feel free to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!

What is the meaning behind Third Generation Travel?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with travel. And it all began with stories and postcards from the magical places my dad and grandpa would visit as airline pilots. While one day I would love to follow in their footsteps of earning my pilot’s license, the name Third Generation Travel felt like the perfect way to honor our family’s love of exploring the world.

WHEN AND WHY DID YOU START Third Generation Travel?

I launched Third Generation Travel in March 2021! Which makes me so proud to say as it’s something I’ve dreamed of doing for years. The inspiration started because I love the research phase of travel. For each trip, I spend way too many hours browsing blogs, social media, and review sites for all the best places to stay, eat, see, and do. So I hope to use my professional background in writing and content creation to bring joy and wonderful new memories to other travel lovers. With that, if you ever have any suggestions or requests, please send them my way!

Is this your full-time job?

It’s not. I work in digital marketing for another great company, and run Third Generation Travel on the side for fun!

What equipment and programs do you use for the blog and social media?

While I have a Canon camera, my iPhone always ends up being my most used piece of equipment! Not only is the camera quality perfect for the blog and social, but it’s less to carry while I’m out exploring. Another great option is a GoPro, which I’ve used for underwater shots, action-based activities, and more. And while there are so many fantastic programs out there for blogs and social media, a few of my favorites include Canva, Adobe Lightroom, and InShot.

What are your top travel tips?

Where do I begin? I have so many! For me, staying in Airbnb’s has been a gamechanger. Not only does it make you feel like a local, but it’s oftentimes less expensive than a hotel. New to Airbnb? Sign up with this link to save on your first qualifying booking! Another tip I love is stocking up on snacks, water, and more at a nearby grocery store. It not only saves money, but it’s great to have while out exploring or to enjoy in your room. Plus, it’s a get way to try local brands and specialties. Click here to view more of my top travel tips!

What are your travel must-haves?

Before I dive in, know that you don’t need any of the items mentioned to have a great trip. Plus, what works for me might not for you. And that’s ok! Alright disclaimers aside, let’s get started! Whether you’re an over-packer like me or just want to stay organized, packing cubes will transform your suitcase. Other favorites include a dual voltage steamer, a mini flexible tripod, a portable charger, and an anti-theft bag. See my full list of travel must-haves here!

What is your favorite country to visit?

This is so hard to choose just one. Every country I’ve visited I would go back to in a heartbeat. But if I had to pick, it would be Austria. The towns are so charming and the mountains (any time of year) make me grin from ear-to-ear. And it’s also home to one of the most picturesque cities I’ve ever experienced, Hallstatt. But with so many countries still on my list, be sure to check back.

Have you ever traveled solo?

Yes, I’ve traveled solo both here in the U.S. and abroad! And they’ve been some of my favorite trips. For those wanting to give it a try, I suggest starting locally with a day trip or weekend getaway. And like with all travel, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and to make safe choices. I’ve included more of my thoughts and top tips for solo travel here.
